When I first started to use the iPhone address book to dial a contact I was incredibly frustrated. The 'search' icon is microscopic and impossible to accurately touch with even the tiniest of index fingers. This meant scrolling up and down the alphabet - a nightmare! When I have been demonstrating my iPhone to clients/friends this issue has been enough to put them off migrating from their current phone so I had to find a better solution.
Voila! We have SearchDial. A brilliant application that not only looks good but really does the job of helping you communicate with your contacts more efficiently. A lot of us have a large number of entries in our address book so we need a tool that helps us get to the person we need without any faffing about. SearchDial starts to bring up relevant answers to your search with different colours for the different numbers/email listed against the name. You have the option of calling the number, sending an sms to the mobile number or writing an email from within the same screen. The search facility will search ALL fields including initial, company, email address and any notes you may have entered. SearchDial keeps a local store ofyour contacts to enable faster startup times and more flexible searching. This is not a problem - you only need to refresh the local store if you make changes to your contact list. The refresh button is locate next to the 'call' tab.
Without a doubt SearchDial does what it promises - helps you find and call a number with the fewest clicks possible. Selling for $1.19AUD or $0.99US - I would have paid ten times that. Consider it 'recommended'.
